High Income Skills - 10x Your Income With These...

High Income Skills

By Brandon Fong | Career

For the most part, society lies to us about what it takes to earn a high income.

In fact, here’s the shocking truth:

Believe it or not, the high income skills that pay the
most money typically don’t require a formal education.

In this article, you are going to discover the top skills that you should develop if you are serious about increasing your income.

On top of that, I’ll provide you with the best resources to start learning each of these skills.

Let’s dive in.

Hi, my name is Brandon Fong.

In 2017, I was a broke college student worried about what I was going to do after I graduated.

Not only that, but most entry level positions for my degree didn’t provide me with the kind of income that I wanted.

But when I discovered the high income skills that I’m about to share with you, everything changed.

One year after graduation, I’m so grateful to say that I’m now making a healthy 6 figure income while working from anywhere in the world.

These skills changed my life — and they will change yours, too.

How Do You Actually Make Money In The First Place?

When you break it down, there are really three main ways to make money:

  1. Work in a specialized role (mechanic, customer service rep, engineer, doctor, etc.). When you work in this capacity, your income is capped by the going rate for the skills you provide. You can make a lot of money in these roles, but typically the highest paying roles (like a doctor) require years of education.
  2. Work in a “rainmaker” position for a company. Rainmakers are responsible for generating revenue. Typically, these positions involve some kind of sales or marketing role. In these roles, you earn commissions, and your income is capped based on the amount of value you provide to the company. You’ll need high income skills if you want to succeed in this category.
  3. You start your own company. Here, you have literally no cap to the kind of money you can make. Your income is only limited by the amount of people you can impact while running a profitable business model.

Once you understand this, you’ll realize that at the end of the day, the best way to earn a high income is to either learn “rainmaker skills” or become an entrepreneur.

The following 5 skills are all high income skills which will help you remove the caps you may currently have on your income.

High Income Skill #1: Minimalism

Wait, what?

How is minimalism a high income skill?

Sure as heck doesn’t sound like something that will make you a lot of income...

Let me explain:

For those of you who aren’t familiar, minimalism, as defined by my favorite thought leaders on the subject — The Minimalists — is “a tool to rid yourself of life’s excess in favor of focusing on what’s important—so you can find happiness, fulfillment, and freedom.”

So what does it have to do with increasing your income?

Two reasons:

First, I’d challenge you to ask yourself why you want a higher income to begin with.

Because if you think that increasing your income will solve all the problems in your life and finally make you happy, think again.

Having a higher income will only magnify the problems you have.

At the end of the day, it’s not your income that leads to a more satisfying life, but rather, prioritizing the things that actually matter.

That means things like your relationships, health, and personal growth.

Second, once you begin to internalize the main aspects of minimalism, you’ll actually need less income to feel fulfilled and satisfied.

Personally, I strive to increase my income because of the discipline and focus it requires, but I end up investing and saving more than 50% of my income.

As Jim Rohn says, “Become a millionaire not for the million dollars, but for what it will make of you to achieve it.”

So before you pursue learning the other high income skills in this article, I highly suggest looking into minimalism first.

High Income Skill #2: Sales

When many people think of sales, they think of someone like this:

Yes, there are some slimy, sleazy sales people out there. Because of that, sometimes sales gets a bad rap.

But is selling really evil?

Absolutely not.

In fact, I consider it to be one of the most noble professions out there. Here’s why:

The bottom line is that a good salesperson can truly make an incredible difference in the world by getting people to take action and invest in ways that improve their lives.

Not only that, but learning how to sell can earn you a very good income.

In fact, one of my favorite marketing thought leaders in the world, Russell Brunson, leveraged sales to become the highest paid speaker in the world — with his net take home as a speaker being $1,000,000 per hour.

Now it’s important to note that when Russell made $1,000,000/hr speaking, he did it by selling a $3,000 product to a group of 9,000 people at Grant Cardone’s 10X event.

Why is this important?

Because if you want to make the most money as a salesperson, you have to learn how to master selling to the masses.

If you can master the art of selling on stage, your income can and will explode.

But that’s not to say that you can’t make a lot of money selling one-off products as well. As long as you’re selling for a company with integrity where you make money based on a good commission structure, your income will explode.

If you’re a people person and enjoy helping others, sales could be a great option for you.

High Income Skill #3: Copywriting

Since we just learned about sales as a high income skill, I want you to picture this:

Imagine you are the world’s best salesperson.

There isn’t a thing you couldn’t sell, and you could earn a hefty commission on anything that someone bought from you.
Just imagine how much money you could make.

But unfortunately if you’re selling products 1-on-1, your income would be capped at how much time there is in a day to sell, and the value of your commission.

Now, imagine if you could take that to the next level...

Imagine if instead of just being able to sell one person at a time, you had the power to sell to hundreds, thousands, or even millions of people at once.

That’s copywriting.

If you aren’t familiar with the term, it has nothing to do with legal advice — that’s copyrighting with an “R.”

Copywriting is writing for marketing and advertising, where the ultimate goal is to persuade people to take a particular action.

As soon as you understand what copywriting is, you’ll start to notice copy all over the place.

Every ad you see (whether it’s words or a video), website you visit, or marketing material you read was most likely crafted by a copywriter.

And how do good copywriters get paid?

Based on how well their copy performs.

That’s right:

Just like a salesperson gets paid a commission for what they sell, copywriters get paid the same... but to the masses.

Many times, copywriters will find an advertisement that is running (what they call the “control”) and write something else that beats the control.

Then they get to take a commission on all the sales that happen as a result of the increase of the response of the ad.

If you want a sure fire ticket to earning a high income, learn the art and science of copywriting.

Not too long ago, I had the opportunity to meet copywriting legend Parris Lampropoulos. Throughout his career, Parris has generated over 300 million dollars of sales with his copy.

When I had the chance to pick his brain and ask about his favorite resources for developing copywriting skills, he gave me a list of books that have radically transformed my written persuasion skills — and I know they can do the same for you — regardless of whether or not you want to get into marketing.

If you want to get access to that list, simply fill your name and email out below and I’ll send it over to you!

High Income Skill #4: Digital Marketing

Marketing is the lifeblood of all businesses.

No marketing = no customers = no revenue = business failure.

And in today’s world, one of the most effective forms of marketing is digital marketing.

So what is digital marketing?

First, let’s quickly break down what marketing is.

Marketing is really about three things.

  1. Identifying a profitable target market
  2. Crafting a compelling offer that satisfies the needs of that target market
  3. Exposing the target market to the offer in a way that motivates them to take action

Digital marketing accomplishes these three things but specifically through the use of online strategies.

And online, there are three ways to expose target markets to compelling offers — organic, earned, and paid media:

Here’s a quick breakdown of the three:

  • Organic Media: Online content that doesn’t leverage any paid promotion and is created with the intention of generating views. This could mean blogs, social media posts, podcasts, etc.
  • Earned Media: Content generated by other people about your company. This could mean being featured on another site, podcast, show, etc.
  • Paid Media: Paying to have your content viewed by others, with the intention of them taking action. This could mean paid Facebook ads, YouTube ads, etc.

As a digital marketer, you would primarily be focused on developing a strategy to find people interested in the product you want to sell, and leading them down a path that will eventually result in generating a sale.

As Joe Polish says, “marketing is selling in advance.”

And just like copywriting and sales, digital marketers are directly responsible for the growth of a company.

And because of this, if you’re good at what you do you can get paid based on the results that you bring in, allowing you to command high prices for your services.

High Income Skill #5: Funnel Building

Alright, here’s where things start getting interesting.

What if you found a way to combine sales, copywriting, and digital marketing into one high income skill?

If you were to do that, you’d end up becoming a funnel builder.

What is a funnel?

Here it is explained by the KING of funnels, Russell Brunson:

The way Russell explains it makes a funnel extremely simple to understand.

But understanding and executing are two completely different ball games.

To actually learn how to build effective funnels will require YEARS of trial and error before you figure out how this whole thing works.

But at the end of the day, Funnel Building is one of the ultimate high income skills because with it, you’ll literally learn how to print money.

What wasn’t explained in this video is that there is a lot more to building a funnel than just selling one product with a bunch of upsells and downsells.

If you want to learn how to build a successful company using funnels, you must understand how to build a proper business model around separate products and services, and tie everything together.

Once you master this skill, you can go into any company, dramatically increase their revenue, and be paid tens of thousands of dollars on top of potentially earning a percentage of their increased profits.

This still isn’t the ultimate high income skill. That one comes next...

High Income Skill #6: Entrepreneurship

Entrepreneurship is the ultimate high income skill.

If you remember from the beginning of this article, entrepreneurship is truly the only way to remove any barriers to making more money.

My favorite definition of an entrepreneur actually comes from Jean-Baptiste Say who was the person who first coined the term in about 1800:

“The entrepreneur shifts economic resources out of an area of lower and into an area of higher productivity and greater yield.”

That’s it. It’s that simple.

And the good news is that if you’re interested in becoming an entrepreneur, there’s really no better time in history than right now to do it!

Becoming a successful entrepreneur will require you to leverage all of the high income skills that were mentioned in this article.

And on top of that, as an entrepreneur, you have to be the one that is taking on all of the risk to get everything started.

Yes it’s scary, but if you succeed, not only will you be able to make a lot of money, but you’ll also be able to make a lasting impact on the lives of many people.

If you’re ready to jump right into entrepreneurship, make sure you check out all of the other resources that were mentioned on this page.

But if you’d like a shortcut to becoming a successful entrepreneur, I’d like to show you how.

Master these high income skills, and you will no longer be confined by the barriers holding you back from earning a high income.

It won’t be easy, but it’ll be worth it!
